There older things than Faerie in the world of MIDION. Demons, Giants, Dragons, Djinn, Devils, Troglodytes, Lycanthropes, Lizard People and many others. There are, however, no other societies as advanced as the Earthling-Humans.
You've noticed that we do not allow any other playable races other than Humans or Demihumans. The reasons for this are quite simple, first we want to keep all other races as antagonists, and second any other races that might exist would only distort our setting beyond it's parameters. This is not to say that if one wishes, they cannot write a story that involves these 'other races', but they are very rarely, misunderstood.
MYTHS
First off, the stories of the land, ancient myths of Earth's lore have all come to life in Midion. Much of what plagues humanity are the incarnations of ancient spirits, gods, and monsters.
DEMONS
These creatures can exist in both physical and ethereal form. The natural state of a Demon is ethereal, meaning they have no physical form and such are quite harmless only having the power to influence, to stir winds, shut doors, alter room temperatures. Creepy stuff, but quite harmless. It's when they possess a being that they can become dangerous.
Before the arrival of Humans, Demons could only possess Non-Faerie entities, and those creatures they took over could offer their intelligence no refuge. What happened, was that as the Demon and Physical Entity 'integrated', they became beasts with animal intelligence. The world is full of such aberrations. However, once Humans arrived the Demons learned that through them they could retain their identities, the problem was that Humans are very difficult to possess, and even more difficult to integrate with. When these rare cases to occur, the possessed Human that's been integrated transforms into the true form of the Demon and they become a full manifestation of itself on Earth. These rare creatures are extremely powerful and evil to the core.
GIANTS
There are many different kinds of giants from all types of lore. We honour just about all of them. We just always have to consider that Giants, like most other creatures are not common. The bigger they are, the more rare they will be in the world. We also don't allow them to be too intelligent. These creatures are generally neutral. They avoid Humans for fear of their technology and most altercations are over territorial disputes.
DRAGONS
Super-intelligent? No. Human forms? No.
Our Dragons are winged or aquatic lizard-like creatures that can grow to immense sizes. Their intelligence would hover around the same level as great apes and they will have aside from a breath weapon, some other magical abilities. Like Humans some Dragons are evil, others good. They have a very rudimentary language, thus they can somewhat be reasoned with over matters with concepts that are not too abstract.
Pet dragons? No. Human society will not or ever tolerate Dragons or any other large monstrosities within their borders. It's not safe for people, it's not safe for them.
DEVILS
These beings can be likened to gods. They are powerful but that power is reliant upon worship. Their forms vary, excelling at disguising themselves.
UNDEAD
Vampires, Zombies, Wraiths, Wights, and Ghouls are all forms of the Undead — creatures that only exist to consume life in all it's forms. The Undead are malicious and monstrous. All they see in a living creature is food, and they crave it with an insatiable appetite. Some consume blood, others essence.
Red blood is the preferred course, but the Undead can also drink blue blood, they're drawn more to one than the other, but a meal is a meal.
Vampires are the alpha predator of the Undead world. They are able to effectively disguise themselves as a Human or Demihuman and move about at night, undetected unless one is wary of their distinguishing signs. Religious symbols, hallowed ground, stakes through the heart all work on the classic European Vampires.
